GQ MAGAZINE, ANNOTATED AND LIIAR ANANLYSIS

Language – Robert Pattinson is the main focus on this magazine as it covers the majority of the front cover. He is looking directly into the camera, this shows that he is making eye contact with the reader. The shot used is a medium close up shot. Robert is dressed in a very smart suit, this gives the impression that the magazine is for maybe business men and successful men. The design of the magazine also reflects its audience because the colours are very manly colours such as blues, whites and red’s. Most of the small features and story lines appear on the third left.  The smaller features/ story lines are used on the front cover to give the reader a little taste of what is held inside the magazine.

The main editor Dylan Jones tries to project his own lifestyle through the magazine well sending a subliminal message that this is how men should spend their lives, how to act, dress, what cars to drive and what gadgets to have. Dylan Jones is trying to send over an ideology that all men should be well groomed, smooth and sleek.

COLLEGE MAGAZINE ANNOTATION AND LIIAR ANALYSIS

Language – The model in the photograph is making contact with the reader as he is looking directly into the camera, this is so that the reader feels more connected with the model and making them feels more involved with that student lifestyle and also the magazine. The model is also stood in a relaxed standing position at a mid length shot, this could give the reader the impression that the college is also relaxed. The repetitive font used on the front cover is sans serif. The masthead ‘College’ is in sans serif, this means that the font is bold and large, the title is also in the colour yellow. The majority of the storylines and subtitles are placed on the third left and the third right, this is because when you pick up a magazine in the shop you either pick it up from the right or  from the left.  The smaller features which are placed on the front cover, give the reader a sneaky insight of what goes on within the college, this makes the reader want to read more about the college.
Institutions  - College lifestyle magazine is a company based in the Caribbean who produce printed copies of college lifestyle magazine four times a year to people living in the Caribbean, USA and Canada. It’s available to the rest of the world on their website collegelifestylemag.com. The magazine is produced in the spring, summer, autumn and winter and  it is distributed to shops, news stands, service stations and it is sold for US $ 4.95 a copy.
Ideology – The magazine provides the reader with an insight on college life and how you can benefit from attending that college. The magazine cover shows the student with a smile and a welcoming presence when holding his study books, this gives the impression that the education is at a high standard and is fun to attend.
Audience - Mobile Gen-Y youth who’re wanting to go to college or are currently attending college, even students who have recently graduated college.
Representation – One representation would be that the college is a happy and joyful place to be, as the student on the front shows this with his impression and another would be the representation of the college by the subtitles which shows what you can do within the college.
